Beginning in September 1988, the original Harvest Bible Chapel met in a conference room with 18 followers of Jesus Christ who wanted a different kind of church in the Chicago area—a church in which Christ would be worshiped in Spirit and in Truth. God led them to call a man named James MacDonald to be their pastor in Rolling Meadows, Illinois.
This church grew considerably over the next serveral years. In the early 2000's, the leaders of this church dedicated to planting 10 new churches in 10 years. By a work of God, far more than 10 churches were planted. Christians recognized that God had gifted them to minister to the church, and they wanted to get off the bench and onto the field in order to practice their faith. Now, only a handful of years since this church planting explosion, what started as a single church has been transformed into a movement. Currently there are more than 115 Harvest Bible Chapels all over the world. We are one such church, governed independently, but held together by our great relationships, love, and respect for one another.
In February of 2013, Bobby Greenwood and his family moved to Fayetteville. They came with the vision of planting a Harvest here, and in late February the very first vision meeting was held with a small group of people. God began forming a core group that was committed to seeing Harvest move from a vision to reality, and in Septemer of that year Harvest Fayetteville held its very service.
Over the last few years God has provided in amazing ways. As we have stayed commited to the mission of the church, we have seen God work in the lives of His people. Sunday mornings continue to be a time where the Word is proclaimed without apology and the Small Group ministry of the church has seen groups multiply and bear much fruit. We are looking with great anticipation into the next months and years to see how God will continue to build His church.
